Incon-Sense – for better quality of life
Problems with changing elders’ diapers at homes for elderly people was the direct reason why Incon-Sense was established. Bent Thorning Bensen was through the media made aware of the problem and was determined to come up with a solution. He invented, and patented, a wireless system that directly will give a message when e.g. a diaper for children or for the elderly is wet and should be changed.
The patent has a variety of applications but the primary purpose is to increase the quality of life and improve the environment for those people suffering from incontinence. An example could be elderly patients who cannot change their diaper themselves.
The aim of the final product, Incon-Sense, is to produce a disposable device that automatically reads and registers whether a diaper, a plaster, a urinal bag or the like is full and should be changed. Furthermore, it is the aim to have a minimal or no impact on the environment when disposing of the device.
The patent has been approved in several EU countries, USA, Canada, Australia and other countries. At present Bensen has made a simple testversion of the product that can be used for illustration and presentation at potential collaborators. As the company deliberately wants to focus on development of new ideas and not to take a product all the way to the market, the company is focusing on transferring the patent partially or completely to a collaborator that can finish the development of the product and commercialize it.
To reach potential investors and collaborators Incon-Sense has among other things chosen to use IP Marketplace. Here the company has a free opportunity to market the business potential of the patent. For a small company it is not always easy to know where and to whom it should turn to to find the right partner. By using an international website that among other things addresses potential buyers of patented technology, Incon-Sense can reach far more buyers than if they had to address interested buyers one by one.
Precisely the possibility of finding an interested collaborator or buyer that has the financial and technical possibilities of taking a product all the way to the market is an important element for many SMEs and inventors. To reach globally the internet is a good media since a buyer or a partner might as well be located in Japan as in Germany. A marketplace where buyers and sellers can find each other is therefore a good place to start for Incon-Sense.
